Right now I'm on hold with a frequent flyer mile number going on 18 minutes now. I shouldn't complain if we get to fly for free when we want, it'll be a good thing... We're going to Montreal... Brian has a conference and I can practice my French!!! Elliot is coming with us (he's free) and Claire will stay with Grandma. I hope we get a free seat!!!

Today has been one of the best days since Elliot's birth. The sun came out. I think that helps...

I seem to like to write on the 4th of each month...

Well, it has been a very busy month and continues to be busy with a new baby in the house and an almost two year old who likes to keep busy to say the least. Luckily, with my husband home for an extended break from paid-work and the holidays full of family, the first few weeks of Elliot's life have not seemed as overwhelming as they could have proven to be without as much help!

Elliot was born at 2:42pm on December 17th weighing 8lbs, 3oz and measuring 21 inches long and 14.5cm head circumference. I'm glad we induced when we did! He's healthy and so far pretty mellow. He cried more quietly at birth than Claire did, I think. I heard once that the first cry is usually a good indicator of what their personality will be... Who knows if it's true, but it's an interesting theory.

I'm trying to think about some sort of routine to my life, but for now we're still in a loosely put together schedule. This will change so for now I'm going to try and enjoy it. I watched "Bringing Home Baby" yesterday on TLC and the mother seemed to freak out cuz they changed the baby on the bed and not on the changing table... Funny, cuz even though we have a place in the kids' room to change him, Elliot has rarely been changed there. It's okay to change him wherever in my book, but that's an aside. What the mom said that really made me kind of laugh is that it was only Day 1 at home with the baby and she thought that by Day 2 they'd have some sort of schedule. Maybe she just meant about the changing table, who knows, but as a second-time mom of going on three weeks now, I know schedules don't usually get put into place for a very long time... If you follow what the baby wants or needs more than what the parent wants, schedules don't seem to be that strict. That's my opinion anyway.

Happy New Year. Let's have a great 2006!!!

Good thoughts, bad thoughts, personal thoughts...

Name:
Location: Beaverton, Oregon, United States

I was a French teacher for four years, a life-long dream achieved. Now, I'm taking a serious break to raise a family. I go to a United Methodist Church regularly with my husband, daughter and son. For my future ideal job, I'd love to travel the world eating in great restaurants and write food reviews!!! Someday I'd like to live on the Oregon Coast and be a translator for French tourists! However, in the meantime I'm earning a substantial income with Jewels by Park Lane, subbing & Shaklee!
